Japan's 1st Export - Silk
When Yokohama opened in 1859, foreign ships arrived one after another, and many foreign trading companies settled in this area, and Japanese trading companies were also established. Trade in Yokohama Port developed significantly through these trading companies, but raw silk was the main export product from the opening of the port to the beginning of the Showa period. Raw silk is transported from all over Japan to Yokohama by land and rivers. By 1909 Japan became the world's largest exporter of raw silk. In this way, the Japanese silk industry supported the Japanese economy and contributed significantly to modernization. And from the silk town of Yokohama, foreign culture spread to various parts of Japan.
The Silk Museum is a project commemorating the 100th anniversary of the opening of Yokohama Port. It is located on the second floor of the Silk Center Building near Osanbashi, Yokohama. On the 1st floor, you can observe the breeding silkworm eating food and making cocoon depending on the season. You can also experience hands-on silk reeling and weaving. It is one of the few museums in the world where you can learn and appreciate "all about silk".

J'S Store Thai Restaurant
Nestled amongst "little Thailand" just behind Kannai Station is one of Yokohama's most authentic Thai restaurants and supermarkets.Owned and run by a Thai family, J'S Store serves up some of the best Thai food in the area.Although the restaurant is quite simple and you are surrounded by Thai supermarket products, this adds to the sense of eating on a street corner in Bangkok.
Our recommendations are the famous Gapao rice, Tom Yung Kung soup or Khao Man Gai.Of course, you'll need a drink also, so go for a Thai beer such as Chang or Singha.
At just around 800 yen for mains, this is also priced a lot like Thailand!Enjoy, and get a taste of Thailand right here in Yokohama.Official Website (Japanese) > https://jsstore-thaifood.com/store/index.htmlGoogle Map > https://g.page/jsstoreYokohama?share
Maita Park Huge Play Equipment
Although it's the rainy season, you can find patches of sun here and there. If you've got kids Maita Park is a great way to spend a Saturday.Boasting one of the largest play equipment athletic areas in Yokohama, the kids are sure to have a ball. There's also a large green space to play soccer or baseball and river to look at the fish.In Spring the cherry blossoms come out in full bloom, and it's one of the best places to have a picnic!Be careful though, because the kids won't want to leave!Google Map > https://goo.gl/maps/q66bkK89b3Yb7nSS7
Dream Drive - Building, selling, and renting campervans.
“Whenever I recall and share childhood stories from growing up in the UK and Australia, they almost always begin with a road trip. I had to ask myself “why? why do most of my most memorable childhood stories begin with a journey, and why have I not been making these memories here in Japan? While working in an office in Tokyo for about 10 years, I came to the realization that many Japanese are traveling and experiencing RV road trips abroad in the United States, Australia, Europe, etc. but not doing so in their own country. Japan is in my opinion one of, if not the best country for free-spirited road trip travel as the roads are safe and there are thousands of clean toilets and onsen all throughout the country. My dream with starting this company was to not only build great campervans but also help put Japan on the global map as a top road trip destination.”
